Catching public transport

Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school.

Catching a bus

Edgeworth Heights Public School is serviced by multiple bus runs in the morning and in the afternoon. See attached the popular bus choices. Visit the below links for further bus options not shown in this document.

Behaviour

Students using buses are expected to behave in a safe and responsible manner.

Inappropriate and dangerous behaviour will result in withdrawal from the bus and/or notification that the student will not be able to catch the bus in future.

If your child is catching the school bus for the first time, please notify your child's teacher to ensure they get on the allocated bus safely.

At the end of each school day, students catching the bus are to assemble under the Basketball Court and find their relevant bus line.

Designated teachers will walk the children to each bus.

Travel pass

A Student Opal card gives eligible school students free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.

Kindergarten - Year 2 students are entitled to free bus travel regardless of distance lived from school.  Year 3 - 6 students must live more than 1.6km straight line distance or 2.3km walking or further to qualify for free travel.

It's important to remember that the Student Opal card is only for travel to and from school on school days and doesn't cover travel to After School Care, school excursions, sport and other activities away from school.

Driving and parking

The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.

When driving and parking near our school, please:

Parking on school grounds

Parking on school grounds is reserved for staff only. We do have a designated disabled parking space available; however, families are asked to contact the school office prior to their visit to arrange access. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Kiss & Ride Zone

Edgeworth Heights Public School’s Kiss and Ride Zone has been re-designed for your convenience and for your child’s safety. Designed for quick entry and exit, the zone minimises congestion and risk when used properly by all parents and carers.

The zone operates under the same conditions as no parking zones:

• You may stop to drop off or pick up your children for a maximum of 2 minutes.

• You are required to remain in, or within 3 metres of your vehicle.

• The zone operates as a Kiss and Drop Zone between 8:00am - 9:30am and 2:30pm - 4:00pm. It is unrestricted parking out of these times.

We will continue to use the Kiss and Ride name card for a smooth and speedy transition to the car. To register for a Kiss and Ride name card please contact our school office. The school will provide you with a family name card to clearly display on your front windscreen or visor when collecting students in the afternoon.

Cars 1-3 drive away once children are safely in the car or dropped off at school. Drop off and pick up zones will be marked by school witches’ hats.

If there are no car spots available in the Kiss and Ride Zone you MUST drive around the block and try again.
